The sun was rising over the Triana district in Seville, casting long shadows across the cobblestones. Don Emilio Vargas stepped out of his house, adjusting his straw hat. He was a man who smelled of damp earth and rosemary, a man whose hands were mapped with the deep grooves of hard labor.
