The Braveheart and The Passion of the Christ director, whose religious beliefs have been the subject of both admiration and criticism, claimed that Hollywood’s elite has long fostered a culture where spirituality—especially Christianity—is treated with contempt.

“They love talking about tolerance,” Gibson said. “But try bringing your Bible to a film set or thanking God during an awards speech, and suddenly, that tolerance disappears.”

Gibson’s comments come at a time when debates over religious freedom, cancel culture, and ideological bias in the entertainment industry are more heated than ever. While some insiders have quietly expressed support for Gibson’s stance, others say his views are part of a larger pushback against a progressive shift in Hollywood’s values.

He didn’t name names, but Gibson hinted at past personal experiences of being marginalized for his beliefs:

“Let’s just say there were projects I was perfect for, directors I had relationships with, studios that once loved me… and then it all dried up. Why? Because I didn’t bow to the unwritten rules.”
